Galileo Research Facts No. 44: Can Galileo Training in artificial weightlessness prevent loss of muscle and muscle function?
Dies ist eine der ersten der vielen Publikation zur ersten Berliner Bedrest Studie (BBR) die 2003/2004 an der Charite Berlin in der Arbeitsgruppe von Prof. Felsenberg im Auftrag der ESA durchgeführt wurde. Bei dieser Bedrest Studie wurden die Effekte der Schwerelosigkeit auf Muskel und Knochen simuliert, indem die Probanden 55 Tage strikte Bettruhe (inklusive Duschen und Toilette) einhalten mussten. Eine Hälfte führte als Kontrollgruppe keinerlei Training durch und verlor bis zu 30% Muskelquerschnitts, die zweite Hälfte trainiert 5*10 Minuten pro Woche und verlor fast keinen Muskel, konnte dafür aber die Muskelfunktion sogar um 12% verbessern.
This is astonishing especially when considering that astronauts on the international space station (ISS) perform exercises 1 to 2 hours per day and still show massive muscle and bone loss. Galileo training could prevent this in just 50 minutes per week (compared to currently 7 to 14 hours) – this proves once more the efficiency of Galileo Training once more!
By the way: The follow-up study #BBR2 using an even more optimized Galileo device could show similar results using just 18 minutes training per week! (#GRFS93, #GRFS69)
